Please stand and grab your brother and sister's hand to your left and your right. Please repeat after me as I recite the BMLS Pledge:
I, ___________________, (state your name): pledge the following
* To Myself, I pledge…
* To My Community, I pledge…
* To BMLS, I pledge…
*A note from Former President Charles King:
As President, it is with great pleasure, now, that I welcome all ___ of you officially into the Black Male Leadership Society. (applause)
I wish that during your time here at this University, you remember our mission and purpose as a Society. I hope that you use this Society, The MSP office, and more importantly, each other as much as needed.
In one way or another, each of you plays a significant role in every members life from this point on. I encourage you to build bonds, create lasting friendships, and establish a brotherhood that its unbreakable and unwavering. It is my hope to call each of you family, and that together, this society sends a powerful message to students, faculty, and staff of all identities; One that says we are a present and active body on campus. That we are more than our talents. We are more than our backgrounds. We are student leaders ready to ignite and inspire change campus wide.
With that, Welcome to BMLS.
